Your privacy matters

1. Information we collect
We collect the following information when you use CardNeuro:
- Account information — email address and name when you create an account.
- Credit card metadata — card name, bank, last 4 digits, and reward rates. We never store full card numbers.
- Transaction data — merchant name, amount, date, and category, synced from your bank via Plaid.
- Location data — your device location when the Pay screen is open, used only to detect nearby merchants. We never store raw GPS coordinates.
- Device token — your push notification token, used only to send reward alerts and weekly summaries.
2. How we use your information
Your data is used exclusively to provide the CardNeuro service:
- Recommend the best credit card for each purchase based on merchant category and your card rates.
- Calculate rewards earned and missed across your linked cards.
- Detect recurring subscription charges from your transaction history.
- Send payment due date reminders and missed reward alerts.
- Generate your weekly rewards summary.
We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond the CardNeuro service.
3. Bank connection via Plaid
CardNeuro connects to your bank accounts through Plaid, a trusted financial data platform used by Venmo, Robinhood, and thousands of other apps. Plaid handles your bank credentials — CardNeuro never sees or stores your banking username or password. Plaid's own privacy policy is available at plaid.com/legal/privacy-policy.
We request read-only access only. CardNeuro cannot move, transfer, or initiate any transactions on your behalf.
4. Data sharing
We do not sell your personal data. We do not share your individual transaction data with advertisers, data brokers, or third parties. The only third parties who may access your data are:
- Plaid — to retrieve your bank transaction data.
- Anthropic / OpenAI — your card name is sent to our AI service to retrieve reward rates. No transaction data or personal information is included in these requests.
- Supabase — our infrastructure provider, which stores your data in encrypted form.
- Apple (APNs) — to deliver push notifications to your device.
5. Location data
Location is used only when you have the Pay screen open and only to identify nearby merchants. We call the Google Places API directly from your device — your coordinates are never transmitted to our servers. We do not store location history. You can disable location access at any time in your device settings (iOS: Settings → CardNeuro → Location → Never · Android: Settings → Apps → CardNeuro → Permissions → Location → Deny).
6. Data retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all personal data is permanently deleted from our systems within 30 days. Transaction data synced from Plaid is retained for up to 13 months to support annual spending analysis features.
7. Your rights
You have the right to: access all data we hold about you, request a copy of your data, correct inaccurate data, delete your account and all associated data, and disconnect your bank at any time from Settings → Connected Banks.
